My Go-To Books for Menopause, Perimenopause & Finally Making Sense of Hormones!
I read The Power of Hormones by Mac Nieuwdorp to better understand how hormones affect everything, mood, energy, and overall health. It’s clear, well-researched, and full of practical advice. This book helped me make sense of hormonal changes during perimenopause and gave me tools to support my well-being naturally. Essentially this book goes right back to hormones from birth. Well worth a read!
I loved The Menopause Reset by Dr. Mindy Pelz because it made navigating menopause feel empowering, not overwhelming. Her practical tips on nutrition, fasting, and lifestyle changes helped me understand my body better. It’s an easy, supportive read that gave me real strategies to feel balanced and in control. This books does cover the perimenopause as well as ketogenic strategies, so this really struck a cord with me. Keep it handy.
I read The Cortisol Connection by Shawn Talbott, PhD, because I wanted to understand how stress affects hormones, especially during perimenopause. Though older, its research is still highly relevant. It helped me see the impact of cortisol on weight, energy, and mood, offering practical strategies to manage stress and restore balance.
I read Fast Like a Girl because I wanted to understand how fasting specifically impacts women’s health. This book offers clear, science-backed guidance on using fasting to balance hormones, boost energy, and support weight loss. Plus, Dr. Mindy rocks—she can do no wrong in my eyes! Truly empowering and practical.
I bought Eat Like a Girl for its practical, hormone-balancing recipes that support energy and fat-burning. The 100+ delicious dishes are easy to follow, full of nutrients, and perfect for women looking to fuel their bodies. It’s a cookbook that not only tastes great but also supports my health goals. Plus, have I mentioned I love this women, she is pretty amazing and empowering!
I love supporting independent bookshops—they’re vital for authors and communities. But to ensure you get the exact version I’ve read, Amazon links are helpful too. For your Little Hit of Happiness, you could always note down the details from the link and pop into your friendly local shop to order a copy! As the owner of two independent delicatessens, I truly understand the importance of shopping local and supporting small businesses whenever possible!.
Books That Make You Laugh, Feel Like a Chat with Friends, and Inspire Your Next Culinary Adventure! I'm currently working on this section of my book list, but I’ve been so focused on hormone-related reads lately that I haven’t dived into much else. Well, other than WHAM! and any George Michael book I could get my hands on!
I couldn’t resist diving into the full No Fcks Given Guide* 5-Book Collection Box Set by Sarah Knight! Don’t just stop at one, this collection is packed with hilarious, no-nonsense advice on living life unapologetically. It’s great value, and I’ve even sent it to a few friends who needed it!
I read Happy by Fearne Cotton because it’s like a warm hug for the soul, think of it like a big mug of hot tea with a bourbon cream! It’s a soothing, uplifting read full of practical advice on finding joy. I loved it before Keto, but it’s still a comfort read.
